This Massive Yarn Barn In Maine Is A Dream Come True

Mainers are some of the craftiest folks out there. This craftiness is why we're not surprise to find so many stores to help locals hone their skills. From massive fabric stores to this wonderful yarn store, there's no reason not to complete those dream projects this year!

Halcyon Yarn has been in operation since 1971, first in Denver and then finally right here in Maine.

Owner Halcyon Blake has been sewing since the age of ten and weaving since college. She graduated as one of three women in her 1969 class at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. Eventually, she took her business knowledge of love of all things yarn and opened the store in Denver. Ten years later, the operation moved to Bath and the rest is history!

Today, Halcyon Yarn is the best place to not only find supplies but to learn.

In fact, one of their stated priorities is "educational opportunities for artists and all our staff." If you love to learn and want to be fully supported in your artistic endeavors, you'll love being here.

The store itself is cozy, but large.

Yarns for dyeing, felting, knitting, crochet and various other uses can be found organized neatly around the space.

The colors are beautiful.

They've even created their own line - originally hand dying in their backyard in Denver!

There are so many things that can be done with the colorful yarn you'll find here - you just need to be open to all the possibilities!
