You’ll Reach Speeds Of Up To 50 MPH On Maine’s Epic Toboggan Run
Camden Snow Bowl in Maine offers a unique toboggan run, the Jack Williams Toboggan Chute, which is a fun winter activity.
Wintertime in Maine means fun activities and attractions that many other states miss out on. We might complain about the cold and snow, but it's this weather that makes it possible to ski, snowboard, snowshoe, and sled. All of these time-honored winter traditions are fun, but we especially love the unique toboggan run in Maine!
Camden Snow Bowl is one of Maine's most lovely ski areas. It's not the biggest in the region, but it offers tons of beauty and a fun, small-town feel.
They offer 20 ski runs offering options for every level of experience.
While we love skiing here, The Jack Williams Toboggan Chute is one of the most unique winter activities in the state.
The toboggan chute was built back in 1936 and is the only original gravity-operated wooden toboggan chute of its size in the country.
The full length is 400 feet, which means you'll gather a good amount of speed on your way down!
To enjoy the chute, head to the platform at the top of the run where an attendant will set you up and make sure you're ready to safely ride down.
From there, it's all smooth sailing! Arrive at the bottom and make your way back up to the top to do it again!
The Jack Williams Toboggan Chute is so great that the annual U.S. National Toboggan Championships are held here each February! You can learn more about this fun event here. But don't worry about being a pro, it's fun and easy to simply enjoy an hour or two.
The Jack Williams Toboggan Chute at the Camden Snow Bowl is usually open on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. They also operate on holidays and Maine school vacation week in February. Be sure to check with them before visiting. Admission is $10 per hour. You can also rent the toboggan run for private events for $150 per hour. You can learn more on their website or by following Camden Snow Bowl on Facebook. They can be reached at 207-236-3438.
Once you've enjoyed a visit to Camden Snow Bowl consider some other seasonal activities. This one-of-a-kind Maine dog sledding experience is a fun way to enjoy winter!
