The conservancy is dedicated to preserving this incredible bottomland forest, and they’ve created a few hiking trails for you to enjoy whenever you’d like.
There are three trails: the Bottomland Trail, the North Trail, and the Upland Trail.
All of the trails clock in under five miles, so you can mix and match to fit your schedule.
The Bottomland Trail even has an equestrian trail that runs parallel to the pedestrian trail, so if you’d like to bring along your noble steed for an adventure, go right ahead!
Tiny steeds (dogs) are also welcome, just remember to keep them on a leash.
The Bottomland Trail will lead you straight to a collection of abandoned WWII ammunition magazines.
A reminder of when the area was occupied by the military, you’ll find 10 of these magazines along the trail.
Feel free to wander inside one of them, all of the ammunition and military equipment is long gone.
Just keep an eye out for wild animals. Fox, armadillos, snakes, and your usual swamp critters all call the area home.
