Pioneer Krier Museum in Kansas offers a firsthand view of pioneer history with various historic exhibits.

If you've wondered a little about pioneer history in Kansas, then you might want to check out the Pioneer Krier museum to see into the past. Old Kansas history wasn't that long ago, but there was so much happening that it is easily glossed over in textbooks and lessons. For a firsthand view of many of the items Kansans used to use in the pioneer days, check out this amazing museum.

Welcome to a historic collection of exhibits at the Pioneer Krier Museum.

Inside the museum, you'll find displays from various collections of goods, ranging from furniture to whole rooms recreating different years.

Whether you're more interested in old medical equipment, prehistoric fossils, or old barbed wire, you'll find it here.

Even a small school room equipped with chalkboard and little seats will take you back to the time of one-room schoolhouses and the smell of chalk dust.

There's also a jail outside, and you may or may not feel comfortable thinking about sleeping inside. It sure is cramped compared to some of the modern places I've seen!

Just imagining getting thrown in here and sleeping for even night will give you the shivers. It had to be uncomfortable, no matter what bedding they used here. Yikes!

Their listed hours are from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. You can also call 620-635-2227 for appointments on weekends or during other hours.

If you'd like to check out their website instead of visiting in person, you can find it here.
