Recently, a Super Bowl LV Jeep commercial has made much of America aware of a tiny spot in Kansas known as the Geographic Center of the Contiguous United States. That means just the lower 48! If you've never heard of this neck of the woods before, we're here to introduce you to a charming little spot in Lebanon. Come check it out!
Out in the middle of northern Kansas, up by the Nebraska border, is a little town named Lebanon. Here lies the geographical center of the contiguous United States, a spot that marks the center of America.
Though it doesn't account for Alaska and Hawaii, the center of the U.S. is still a fun stop to travel through, if you like classic road trips.
Here at that spot is also a teeny tiny chapel that never closes. It was recently featured as a destination during a Jeep commercial that played during Super Bowl LV.
You can get married here at this little chapel, but most visitors just mark their names in the guest book. I wonder if Bruce Springsteen left his name in the book when he visited?
It's open all day regardless of the weather, and we think it's super cute to see eight tiny pews lined up like this.
Regardless of what brings you this way, we think this little chapel is just the spot for a quick leg stretch on your travels through our state. Come in, sign the book, and enjoy the wide open spaces around you for a while.
Though this spot was inaccurately found by balancing a piece of cardboard shaped like the United States on a point back in 1918, we still love this little tourist stop.
There isn't an official website for this spot, but we ask that you respect the location and leave it how you found it. Wipe your feet, don't leave any trash behind, and make great memories.
