Most people visiting Stone Mountain Park in Georgia don’t even know that a riverboat cruise exists.
Yet, since 1976, riverboats have been paddling out through Stone Mountain Lake providing passengers with the chance to see a uniquely captivating side of the park.
There are two paddle boats in the Stone Mountain fleet — the Scarlet O’Hara, which is a side wheeler that can carry up to 150 people aboard…
…and the Henry W. Grady, which fits 300-passengers, but is solely used for private charters.
Departing from the Riverboat Marina Complex every half hour, guests can take to the waterways for a quick 20-minute jaunt around the area.
A fascinating fact about the paddle boats at Stone Mountain is that the sunken remains of the very first riverboat, the Robert E. Lee, can still be seen at the bottom of the lake.
