1. Hartford
Hartford, once again, is considered first among the most dangerous cities in Connecticut. Connecticut's capital city had 1,313 reported instances of violent crime in 2018. That means there were 1,066 violent incidents per 100,000 people. Property crimes were also rather high with 4,435 total instances in one year.

2. New Haven
With 842 violent crimes per 100,000 people, New Haven is the second on the list of dangerous cities in Connecticut. Property crime is actually slightly higher than Hartford's, with 3,896 reported instances per 100,000 people.

3. Waterbury, Connecticut
Coming in at number three is the lovely town of Waterbury. There were only 443 reported instances of violent crime in 2018, but its high levels of property crime really tipped the scale. Waterbury had 4,252 instances of property crime that year -- that's 3,923 incidents per 100,000 people!

4. New Britain
Per 100,000 people, New Britain had 426 reported instances of violent crime and 2,772 reported instances of property crime.

5. Plainville
You might be surprised to see this tiny town on the list. Plainville only has a population of 17,701, but there's a 1 in 34.8 chance of becoming a victim to property crime. Thankfully, violent crime rates are much lower - 192 reported instances per 100,000 people.

6. Bloomfield
This gorgeous Connecticut city has become more dangerous throughout the years. In 2018, Bloomfield had 278 instances of violent crime and 2,660 instances of property crime per 100,000 people. Be sure to lock your doors and keep your eye out for mischief!

7. Derby
According to FBI statistics, this idyllic town is the seventh most dangerous city in Connecticut. Per 100,000 people, Derby had 303 instances of violent crime and 2,321 instances of property crime. It's hard to believe, isn't it?

8. New London
If we were just looking at violent crimes, New London would be the fourth most dangerous city in Connecticut. However, the low levels of property crime brought this pretty seaport town to number 8. Per 100,000 people, New London had 451 instances of violent crime and 2,104 instances of property crime.

9. East Windsor
East Windsor thankfully doesn't see a lot of violent crime, but its property crime rates were astronomical in 2018. Per 100,000 people, East Windsor had 148 instances of violent crime and 3,168 instances of property crime.

10. East Hartford
East Hartford barely makes it on the list of dangerous places to avoid in Connecticut this year. Per 100,000 people, East Hartford had 233 instances of violent crime and 2,403 instances of property crime.
