We’ve mentioned many hidden gems in Arizona in the past, but the one we're exploring today is definitely one of the most secluded! Hidden deep in the Coconino National Forest, Bull Pen looks like a tropical paradise with its glistening turquoise waters. You’ll feel like a whole new person after a day of relaxation and rejuvenation here! Bull Pen might just be the closest thing we have to a fountain of youth in Arizona.
Hiding deep within the Coconino National Forest is a swimming hole so pristine, it looks like it could be a fountain of youth.
Most people have no idea this jungle-like landscape is harboring such an oasis!
About midway down the trail, you'll start to hear a faint trickle through the thick brush. This is how you'll know the pool is near.
A shallow entrance gradually leads into deeper waters, so children and adults alike can splash the day away safely.
If you're an adventurous soul, you'll sometimes find that someone has installed a rope swing or two. They come and go as time goes on.
There are also several cliffs to jump off of ranging in height from eight to 15 feet.
And in typical Arizona fashion, the sunsets are absolutely incredible!
While overnight camping isn't allowed, you can absolutely stick around until dusk.
To access Bull Pen, take the Highway 179 exit on I-17. From there, keep driving for about nine miles until you see Farm Road 215. Turn right and look for the trailhead, which is located not far down the street.
