The Salty Dawg Saloon resides in one of the first cabins built in Homer, Alaska.
Homer became an unofficial townsite in 1896. The Salty Dawg Saloon was established in 1897. In fact, it functioned as the town's first grocery store, post office, and coal mining office.
The bar makes a fantastic amount of great cocktails.
They also have a great list of local beers. The place is a major draw for locals and tourists alike, and they can make a mean drink! It brings dining in Alaska to a whole new level.
The bar has an iconic feel to it, with customers leaving dollar bills around the property.

Originally the bar had a marine feel, especially as it's right on the harbor.

Make sure you get there early so you can grab a seat at the bar or one of the tables. It can be especially busy during summer when there's a cruise ship in town!
