Delaware is a TINY state, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have places that truly are the middle of nowhere. Luckily, even if you get stranded in the boondocks of Delaware, you’ll never go hungry. Each of the following restaurants is plopped well off the beaten path, but they’re some of the best rural restaurants in Delaware and you’ll love your journey to track them down.

The Store in Gumboro is one of those places that you only find by word of mouth. This middle-of-nowhere kitchen serves up delicious sandwiches and fried chicken. After you eat, stop by the country store next door to pick up something for your home.

Grain H20 replaced the well-loved Aqua Sol in Bear, Delaware, right on the Summit North Marina. This on-the-water restaurant is known for their sandwiches, burgers, and extensive beer list.

This rural restaurant may have a Middletown address, but the winding roads you take to get there will make you feel like you're miles away. Wallace Burgers, Chicken and Fries is a tiny roadside restaurant that you may have driven by dozens of times while you were trying to avoid beach traffic towards Fenwick Island.
