1. Biggest Crowd Waving Foam Fingers
In the fall of 2019, Delaware State University set out to break two world records! They had 1,709 people waving about, beating a record that had been set in Scotland.
2. Largest Crowd Buzzing Simultaneously
During the same open house that broke the Foam Finger record, Del State set a brand new record, too! They had a crowd of 1,661 people buzzing simultaneously - in honor of the Delaware State University mascot, the Hornets.
3. Tallest Lego Tower - held from 2013-2014.
Red Clay School District students built an 11 story Lego tower, eclipsing any previous record and also becoming the first record holders who were not the Lego Company or a country. Unfortunately, their tower record fell a year later when students in Budapest took on the challenge.
4. Oldest Woman To Cross The Country On A Bike
Lynn C. Salvo was 67 years and 32 days old when she arrived in Bethany Beach, Delaware, to complete her cross country ride. She had started in Oceanside, California and pedaled 3,163 miles to arrive in the quiet resort town of Bethany.
5. Longest Poker Game
The 2012 Ironman Poker Challenge at Delaware Park lasted for 36 hours, 34 minutes and 11 seconds! 192 players worked hard for their piece of the $100,000 in prize money. First Place went to Peter Konas, who won $27,160.
6. Largest Simultaneous Shower
So, I was actually there for this record-breaking day! Firefly Music Festival at Dover Downs partnered with Iron Spring to create an enormous outdoor shower, shattering the record for the most people showering all at once. 396 scrubbed up!
7. Fastest Half Marathon By A Linked Team
This odd new record was set byChris Solarz, Brad Weiss, Joe Eagan, Justin Wood and Stephen England . The team took 1 hour 26 minutes and 14 seconds to run 13.1 miles. They achieved this feat at the Rehoboth Beach Seashore Marathon.
