Here Are 14 Things Everyone In Washington DC Absolutely Loves
People fall in love with Washington DC for different reasons. Some people love being in the pulse of politics. Others love it’s close proximity to destinations. Some come for the history and others love the night life. There really is so much to love about DC. If you are still searching for even more to love about the district, here are 14 things to love about Washington DC.
Washington DC freaks out for the cherry blossoms. It’s like a reward after the cold winters and a little treat before the humidity. Anyone in Washington can agree, there is nothing quite as pretty as when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.
From museums to festivals, we really do love our free things here in DC. Luckily, there are plenty of free places to go and things to do here.
Much like its residents, the neighborhoods of DC each have their personality and unique style. And we all have our own special connection to our neighborhoods but we appreciate the variety they all bring to the city.
Whether it’s running on the mall, biking with Capital bike share or hiking in Rock Creek, DC is an exercise happy town.
If you even mention hiking around anyone from DC, they will always say "Have you done the Billy Goat?" With fun rock scrambles and stunning views, it’s one of the most popular hiking spots in the area!
Washington DC has one of the largest Ethiopian populations in the country and we are spoiled with the amount of incredible Ethiopian food here. Truly, we cannot get enough it!
Maybe it’s the Pandacam. Maybe it’s because we happen to get the cutest pandas but DC loves the cute and friendly bears that are at the National Zoo.
It might be Founding Farmer’s or Rose’s Luxury, but DC-ers love a good hot and trendy restaurant. We don’t mind waiting in line for the chance to say we’ve had the latest culinary delight.
Our love of live music might stem from the go-go roots but whether you are seeing a show at 9:30 Club or Echostage, you are loving the energy and the music.
Give us a happy hour priced drink and a good view of the city on a new spring day and we won’t even mind the crowds. And there will be crowds. There’s always crowds.
In a city where there is almost no parking, traffic is consistently awful and the public transportation, Uber was a welcome relief for DC. Now you can sit in traffic without watching the taxi fare increase.
Georgetown Cupcakes may have put us on the map but here are plenty of delicious cupcake bakeries in DC to please even the sweetest of sweet tooths.
We might not always agree on football or baseball, but you know if you are in DC, that you are rocking the red.
Here in DC, we care. Maybe we don’t always care about the same things or the same causes and we may debate some points. But at the end of the day we’re a district of people who passionately live in and love this city.
