These 7 Hole In The Wall BBQ Restaurants In Washington DC Will Make Your Tastebuds Go Crazy
DC may not be known for its BBQ like other places such as Texas or North Carolina. But that does not mean we do not have restaurants that serve delicious BBQ here in the District of Columbia. These spots might not look like much from the outside but you are sure to find delicious BBQ at these seven best BBQ restaurants around the DC area.
1. King Ribs
The meat just falls off the bone at this tiny shack on the Southwest waterfront. They don’t take credit cards and it’s take out only but you can enjoy some flavorful BBQ on nearby benches near the water.
700 Water St SW Washington, DC 20024
2. Kenny’s BBQ Smokehouse
Kenny’s recently came under new management and did a full renovation but it still serves fantastic BBQ and good old fashioned comfort food. They offer huge portions of pulled pork, brisket, ribs and so much more!
732 Maryland Ave NE Washington, DC 20002
3. Pitmasters Back Alley BBQ
Pitmasters is a local hidden gem! It’s in the back alley behind a retail area off of Massachusetts avenue. It’s take away only but their portions are huge and you definitely want to call in first to order. They make everything to order and it’s made fresh!
4818 Yuma St NW Washington, DC 20016
4. DCity Smokehouse
DCity moved into a new spot in Bloomingdales this year that features two smokers so you’ll never worry about them running out of brisket and ribs again! The meat is so good that you often don’t even need homemade sauce (but you should try it at least once!) and don’t forget to skip on the sides.
203 Florida Ave NW Washington, DC 20001
5. Smoke & Barrel
One of the most interesting things about Smoke and Barrel is that they not only have fantastic BBQ, but also incredible vegetarian and vegan options so even non-meat eaters can enjoy this BBQ! Everything is full of flavor and satisfying!
2471 18th St NW Washington, DC 20009
6. Fat Pete’s BBQ
Fat Pete’s is a fun spot in the Cleveland Park neighborhood. They serve classic BBQ options and plenty of soul food. You’ll love trying their candied yams, BBQ beans, hush puppies and meat combinations.
3407 Connecticut Ave NW Washington, DC 20008
7. Backyard BBQ
Backyard BBQ is technically outside of DC in Arlington but it’s so good that it deserves a spot on the list! This is a low key tiny spot that serves really big, flavorful BBQ meals. The meat is tender, the portions are big and the service is friendly!
2910 N Sycamore St Arlington, VA 22207
