10 Privileges Nutmeggers Have That The Rest Of The U.S. Doesn’t
Living in Connecticut, we endlessly complain about taxes and traffic, but let’s take a look at the bright side of things for a moment. By living in the Nutmeg State we have some unique advantages that others in the U.S. don’t. Let’s take a look at a few reasons why we should embrace our tiny state and all of its goodness.
1. Being tiny
As one of the smallest states in the U.S., we have the advantage of being able to drive from one side to the other in just two hours. That means we can visit any town, any attraction, or any restaurant in the state in a single day. You can't do that in places like Alaska, Texas, California, and Montana.
2. Exploring the outdoors
With over 100 state parks to choose from, there is no shortage of incredible outdoor space to enjoy in the Nutmeg State.
3. Enjoying a ride at Lake Compounce
Connecticut is home to the oldest continuously running amusement park in the United States. We can visit the park whenever we want.
4. Eating the best lobster rolls
Warm and buttery is how we like them in the Nutmeg state and that's how they're served. No need to worry about the mayo.
5. Viewing the fall foliage
The colorful display of golds, oranges, and reds take over the tree canopy during the fall. We have some of the best leaf peeping in the country.
6. Taking the wine trail
We have our very own wine trail that meanders through the gorgeous countryside from winery to vineyard. And the best part? Samples!
7. Hanging Out At The Beach
Many people criticize our beaches but at least we have them. Imagine being from Nebraska where you have to travel through three other states to reach the beach?
8. Visiting Mystic Seaport
Not only is Mystic Seaport one of the most charming spots in New England, it is also home to the largest maritime museum in the world.
9. Not having an accent
That's right y'all, here in Connecticut we speak English without a twang or any undecipherable slang. It's great to be understood.
10. Getting an original hamburger
Louis Lunch is the birthplace of the original hamburger and you can only get them in New Haven.
