Christmas Light Displays in CT

What are some fun things to do at Christmas in CT?

Christmas in CT is a special time of year, wouldn’t you say? There’s just a certain element of cheer in the air despite how cold it gets (more about that in a moment). There are a plethora of fun winter traditions in Connecticut that just so happen to be extra special around Christmastime; for example, did you know you can embark upon some truly amazing Christmas train rides in Connecticut? It’s true! There are entire small towns that transform into Christmas towns in Connecticut every year, and better still, there are some truly epic award-winning Christmas lights displays in CT to mention, too!

What is winter in Connecticut like?

Well, we hope you like cold weather because that’s what you’re getting. Life in Connecticut is peachy year round, but winter can be rough if it catches you off-guard. Temperatures rarely ever exceed the high 30s and lows can be below zero on many nights of the season. Occasionally, there will be historic winter storms in Connecticut, and we’ve had more than our fair share of blizzards in CT as well. While the U.S. average is 22 inches of snow per year, Connecticut typically sees about 37 inches, making it one of the snowier places to live. The snow does make for some truly epic snow tubing hills in CT, though, so at least we have that going for us.

Where can I see the best Christmas light displays in Connecticut?

There are definitely some places in CT that go all-out when it comes to the Christmas lights, and we can’t get enough of it when they do! Every year you can rely on specific light displays to dazzle and amaze. Some of our favorite Christmas lights displays in CT year after year include the Fantasy of Lights, which is in New Haven and approaching 30 years of wonder, and then there’s Winterfest and the Tunnel of Lights, which you can’t miss.
