Ice cream is a universal food. We indulge when we're feeling blue and also use it as a reward for everyday achievements. There's no doubt that Connecticut has oodles of options for this frosty treat. You can head to an old-school ice cream parlor or venture out to a dairy farm stand. But if you're searching for a truly astonishing dessert, you have to try the liquid nitrogen ice cream.
This new trend in ice cream creation is available at Milkcraft where yummy treats are blended right in front of you under a cloud of liquid nitrogen. A visit to Milkcraft is like taking a trip to a mad scientist's lab where ice cream appears like magic before your very eyes.
Step into Milkcraft and you'll see a long counter filled with gadgets and gizmos much different from other ice cream shops. Even though the space looks like a high tech lab, the ice cream is blended from scratch using only the very freshest ingredients.
Place your order and the ice cream will be made right in front of you using food grade liquid nitrogen. Under the mystical fog, each scoop is individually frozen. The liquid nitrogen creates smaller ice crystals resulting in the smoothest, creamiest ice cream you've ever tasted.
All of the ice cream at Milkcraft is is free of antibiotics, hormones, and steroids. It also contains no eggs and is gluten free.
The ice cream isn't the only thing that's unique at this joint. Enjoy your frozen treat on a Bubblecone which is a caramelized Hong Kong style waffle. This tasty cone is also made to order right at this trendy ice cream shop.
You can also have your ice cream sandwiched in a Creameebun. This is an ice cream sandwich that is pure sweet heaven with each bite.
Flavors range from the campfire classic of S'Mores to...
... the luscious decadence of Red Velvet.
One of the most popular items is the Cookie Butter Blue. But if you're one of those Plain Jane kind of people, you'll find also vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry to suit the less adventurous dessert seeker.
Enjoy your liquid nitrogen ice cream inside the shop or head outside to their colorful patio. The outdoor space has flowers in the summertime and heaters in the winter so you can enjoy it year round.
