We’re lucky enough to have many beautiful state parks and state forests in Connecticut. We may be densely populated, but we also have plenty of land that’s been set aside for preservation and recreation. One of the Nutmeg State’s best natural refuges is the James L. Goodwin State Forest. This magical oasis spans parts of Chaplin and Hampton, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. Not only is it perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the relaxation that comes from spending time in nature, it also has plenty of recreational opportunities. Check it out:

The James L. Goodwin State Forest covers 2,000 acres of land in the state's "Quiet Corner," up in the northeast.
