The Christmas Display In Connecticut With Over 1 Million Glittering Lights

The sparkling and glittering lights are one of the best things about the holiday season and every year the displays seem to get better and better. In Connecticut there are many places to go to see lights during the holidays, but you don’t need to be satisfied with just your decorated neighborhood houses if your appetite is for something a bit more extravagant. There is an astounding Christmas display that has over 1 million lights and it can be found right in our state’s capitol city.

Holiday Light Fantasia is located at Goodwin Park in Hartford. You can drive through this two mile winter wonderland to enjoy over 1 million sparkling lights.

There are more than 35 scenes of lights and 200 individual displays creating a wonderful glow throughout the park. It is quite a festive sight that delights both young and old.

This Christmas display was created in 1999 by restaurateur, Frank Maratta, who then donated all of the displays and lights to Channel 3 Kids Camp. The organization is a non-profit camp that serves thousands of children in Connecticut and New England.

The lighted displays not only celebrate Christmas, but commemorate New Years, Hanukkah, Three Kings Day and other fun occasions.

Open Sunday - Thursday from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., there are plenty of opportunities to see the 1 million lights. You can even view the wonderland on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Eve and Day.

Santa and Mrs. Claus make their appearances on Friday and Saturday nights from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. to say hello to all of the visitors of Goodwin Park.

Fantasia Holiday Lights is truly a magical experience - more than one engagement has taken place under all of the sparkling lights in Hartford.
