This Connecticut Restaurant Serves Wings In The Most Outlandish Flavors
There is a restaurant tucked away in Connecticut’s smallest city that serves over 100 varieties of chicken wings and they are incredible. You can get hot wings, savory wings and dessert wings. Yes it’s true, this joint serves wings that are dessert like and though it seems so wrong, it actually works. For top rated chicken wings, the Dew Drop Inn in Derby is the place to go.
New York native, Jay Carlucci, bought the Dew Drop Inn in 2006 and when he was shopping, he didn't even want a building with a kitchen. He was looking to open a neighborhood bar and quite frankly the food just wasn't his main interest. But today, the restaurant is much more renowned for its food than for its spirits.
The owner's vision for the bar was unusual and shortly after opening, he removed every light beer from the drink offerings. He added many craft beers and customers kept returning for the exotic brews that were served.
In 2008, Carlucci burned all of his menus and started from scratch to begin to bring a more unique fare to his patrons. And with that, he has introduced some of the most outlandish chicken wing dishes to the menu and the customers love it.
Probably the most strange wing offering is the peanut butter and jelly wings. Even though it sounds odd, somehow it works and these chicken wings get great reviews. It is even served with a side of marshmallow fluff for dipping!
Another crowd favorite is the Cajun garlic butter bacon wings. Topped with a a whole lot of bacon, how could you go wrong with this choice?
The sea salt and vinegar wings are full of flavor. They are marinated prior to cooking and come out with a crispy skin.
Another unusual menu choice is the s'mores wings. It has marshmallows and chocolate and looks pretty divine. Only at the Dew Drop Inn can you have wings for dinner and wings for dessert.
These chicken wings come with extra napkins. The cheddar barbecue bacon wings are loaded with toppings. The bacon is crisp and the cheesy is melty - what could be better?
Some patrons claim that the sweet chili Asian glazed are the best wings in the house, at least for people who aren't a fan of spicy food.
If you are craving something spicy, then the Cajun taco butter chicken wings might be a good choice. They have a kick that true wing lovers enjoy.
Oddly delicious, the blueberry pancake wings bring breakfast to dinner in a completely outlandish way. But don't knock it until you try it.
Everyone loves nachos that are served at a bar, but how about nacho wings? Chicken wings that are loaded up with all of the traditional nacho toppings - these are out of this world.
The mural on the wall at the Dew Drop Inn even features wings in the best way. How can you refuse what the Incredible Hulk is bringing to the table?
And if for some strange reason, you don't like chicken wings, the restaurant offers other options on their menu. Burgers and steaks have rave reviews as well, they just aren't quite as famous as the wings.
