by Annie The Most Unique World War II Museum In The World Is Right Here In Colorado
World War II was a difficult time in American history as it changed family dynamics and how the country operated up until that point. Since many of us did not live through this time, we rely on history books, stories from those who lived it firsthand, and unique museums like this little-known WWII museum in Colorado:
Located in Colorado Springs is the National Museum of World War II Aviation, one of the few museums dedicated to flight and technology.
In their own words, the Museum "documents the role that military aviation played in the emergence of our nation as a world power" via the "tremendous technological advancements in aviation during the War and the contributions and sacrifices of the men and women who won the air war."
When you visit, you will be greeted by incredible, state-of-the-art exhibits that walk guests through the beginning to the end of the war and discuss the vital role that aviation played through it all.
You will want to set aside plenty of time to explore, as the Museum is home to a whopping 4,000+ artifacts, archives, maps, and more.
While the entire National Museum is impressive, the most unique part of all may be the 28 fully-restored flying aircrafts, which are available to view during your visit.
In addition to these permanent planes, the National Museum of World War II Aviation also hosts other aircrafts traveling for airshows or other special events.
