Most People Don’t Know About This Underrated Zoo Hiding In Colorado
If you are a longtime reader of Only in Colorado, you know that we love our zoos and often gush about places like the
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Denver Zoo, and Wild Animal Sanctuary, but today we are going to highlight one of the lesser-known and, arguably, one of the most underrated. Can you guess which it is? If you guessed the Pueblo Zoo, you would be correct!
Located in - you guessed it - Pueblo, the Pueblo Zoo is an exciting zoo that may be smaller than others but is full of surprises!
Spanning 25 acres, the Pueblo Zoo is on a mission to "Empower, Engage, Conserve," which they do via their 420 animals of more than 140 species.
What kinds of animals will you find at the Pueblo Zoo? You will find mammals like monkeys, camels, zebras, and kangaroos; reptiles like various tortoises and turtles, snakes, and geckos; and amphibians like frogs and salamanders.
In addition to all of the above, the Pueblo Zoo is also home to different fish, birds, anthropods, and invertebrates.
As if you needed another reason to visit, the Pueblo Zoo also hosts various events like a summer concert series, behind-the-scenes tours, and the seasonal ElectriCritters (pictured).
Admission to the Pueblo Zoo is $10 for children (ages 3 to 12), $11 for youth and seniors (ages 13 to 17), and $12 for adults.
