Here Is The Haunting Story Of The Old Glendale Station In Colorado

Colorado has a fascinating history that dates back to the railroad, mining boom, and long before, so it should come as no surprise that the Centennial State also has its fair share of alleged hauntings. Do you want to see one of the oldest and most iconic for yourself? Then you will want to visit the Old Glendale Station in Colorado.

Located in the small Fremont County town of Penrose is the Old Glendale Stagecoach Station, AKA one of the most haunted places in Colorado.

Built in the mid-19th century, the Old Glendale Station was once a popular stop for travelers along Beaver Creek, as the building housed a hotel, restaurant, coral, and other features that otherwise couldn't be found in the area.

As time went on, more and more people moved to the area, and the Glendale Station remained as popular as ever, only to reach its unfortunate demise in 1921 when a local dam burst and most buildings and homes around the area were destroyed.

While the building survived the devastating flood, the business did not, and it has since sat empty and virtually lifeless... minus, of course, a mysterious ghostly figure that can be seen roaming the grounds in a tattered gray wedding dress.

According to legend, the ghost is that of young Kathleen Cooper: a heartbroken fiancee who waited for her prospector lover to return and marry her, only to die of heartbreak and emaciation when he never arrived.

Though she died around 1878, visitors swear they can still see and hear Kathleen walking and crying throughout the area, especially in and around the Old Glendale Station.

The Old Glendale Station can be accessed via the Turrell Trail just east of Penrose (GPS coordinates 38.44134977007958, -104.97039601195866).
