Despite being a beautiful state, Colorado has its fair share of places with a disturbing past that are now alleged to be haunted. One of these places that you can still visit and go ghost hunting at is none other than this Colorado women’s prison-turned paranormal museum:

Located in Canon City, the Colorado Prison Museum was first built in 1935 and originally served as a women's prison building before sitting vacant for several years and being converted into the innovative museum.

Thanks to its colorful history as a women's prison and then sitting vacant, the Colorado Prison Museum is deemed haunted, with countless visitors and staff citing unexplainable occurrences like orbs, the sounds of coughing and screaming, and the scent of fresh tobacco when no one is around.
