If you live in Denver, you don't need me to tell you that our park's system is one of the best in the country (with nearly 20,000 acres of urban parks)! However, if you are looking for a space that is truly one-of-a-kind, you must visit this incredibly unique park that is located right in our own backyard:
Located in southeast Denver lies the hauntingly beautiful Babi Yar Memorial Park; a 27-acre memorial park that was built in honor of the 200,000+ killed during the Nazi massacre of Ukrainian Jews.
Opened in 1982, the walkways in the park were specifically designed to resemble the Star of David, in addition to a number of other incredible features like memorial columns, lindens planted in a grid to represent the countless lives lost, and even a gorgeous fountain comprised of black granite.
While these distinct features are different from most city parks, Babi Yar is also home to an assortment of plants and trees that are typically found throughout the area.
Find it here:
Babi Yar Memorial Park is located at 10451 E Yale Ave in Denver. Before you visit, check out Babi Yar's website for special events and tributes that the park hosts throughout the year.
