There is nothing quite as pleasant as a peaceful farm on a cool and colorful fall day. Wouldn't you agree? If you are craving a beautiful day out, make plans to visit one (or all) of these 11 charming farms nestled in the middle of nowhere:
1. Mesa Winds Farm & Winery (Hotchkiss)
Quaint cabins, a 36-acre farm (growing grapes, peaches, asparagus, and more), AND a vineyard with public wine tastings? Now that is my kind of farm!
2. YA YA Farm & Orchard (Longmont)
YA YA is a century-old farm that offers its guests the opportunity to pick crisp and organic apples from their ample trees; sounds like a fun family outing to me!
3. Pantaleo Farms (Pueblo)
...because nothing says fall quite like a large pumpkin patch, hay rides, and a winding corn maze.
4. Garden Sweet (Fort Collins)
Since 2002, Garden Sweet has been Northern Colorado's one-stop shop for fresh farm stand goodies and U-Pick flowers, veggies, and fruits.
5. Rock Creek Farm (Broomfield)
I can't say enough good things about Rock Creek. There is plenty of fun for the little ones (petting farm, inflatables, etc.), it is conveniently located in north Denver, and admission is FREE. What more can a parent want?
6. May Farms (Byers)
Keep your eyes peeled for special events at this Eastern Colorado favorite, which is constantly hosting speakers, farm days, and other unique events.
7. Canyon Wren Farm (Grand Junction)
Please note, Canyon Wren Farm has permanently closed.
Located next to the gorgeous Colorado National Monument, Canyon Wren is a picturesque organic farm that offers down-home farm stays paired with delicious meals.
8. Miller Farms (Platteville)
With its fresh farmers market, seasonal festivals, and a large antique automobile and farm equipment collection, it's no wonder Miller Farms has been a "Colorado treasure since 1949."
9. James Ranch (Durango)
Their website says it all: "Here, you will find 400 acres of high altitude, irrigated pastures, crystal clear flowing water, 100% grass fed and finished beef cattle, grazing Jersey milk cows, a spruce tree nursery, an organic vegetable and flower garden, and busy families who utilize organic growing practices in the day-to-day operation of the ranch and their enterprises."
10. Fruit Basket Orchards (Grand Junction)
The only U-Pick orchard on the Slope is the bountiful Fruit Basket Orchards, which encourages it patrons to "pick, eat, repeat." (Don't mind if I do!)
11. Colorado Pumpkin Patch (Larkspur)
This ain't your mamma's pumpkin patch; this Larkspur-area gem has a 60-foot jumping pillow, outdoor laser tag, pony rides, and even live music.
