When it comes to viewing fall foliage the River Valley might be the last place you would consider.
But don’t overlook this section of Arkansas because there are some great spots to witness the best of the autumn season.
One such scenic spot is Bona Dea Trails & Sanctuary in Russellville, a 186-acre oasis along Lake Dardanelle that's bursting with vibrant fall colors every year.
Featuring several water features and surrounded by tree canopies as well as 6 miles of hiking trail, this nature area is great for folks who love exploring the great outdoors.
With several hiking trails, you'll witness lots of fall colors along the way. Plus, there is a plethora of wildlife inside the wetland sanctuary.
They include turtles, birds, as well as a famous 8-foot resident gator. Depending on the time of year you visit, you might get a glimpse of the slithering reptile as you meander the waterways.
The Serendipity Trail is the main trail inside the pretty oasis. The 3.5-mile trail is paved, which means it's perfect for walking, jogging, biking, and it's also wheelchair accessible.
During the autumn, the path will be blanketed with pretty yellow, orange, and red leaves. Of course, this is always a welcoming scene during the season.
Aside from the nature trails, there are towering rock formations as well as footbridges, exercise equipment, a local park, a memorial, and more.
Be sure to have your camera in hand to capture some of the pretty vistas as you trek.
While the scenic trail is gorgeous during the fall season, you can easily enjoy it year-round.
In my opinion, it's one of the prettiest hiking trails in the River Valley, and this autumn, you'll want to bask in all its glory for yourself.
