There's a little slice of heaven between the Ozark National Forest and the Buffalo National River in Arkansas. Ricketts Mountain has a tiny but delightful trail that just about everyone will love. This hike has gorgeous nature, views, and tons of geological formations that really rock! Let's explore this fun trail.
If you live in Arkansas then you already know - backroads are the best roads to take for an adventure.
Today's little adventure can be found west of Mount Judea, off of Ricketts Cemetery Road. For a map of the trail, use this one.
Address: Ricketts Cemetery Road, Vendor, AR 72683
The first thing you'll notice about the trail are all the rocks.
Which does make sense since this is on Ricketts Mountain. The trail may be short but hiking isn't the main feature of this particular area.
The actual hike will take about 30 minutes but you can spend hours exploring the area.
The rock climbing adventures are just about endless, especially if you have small explorers with you. There's definitely a rock or two perfect for reenacting some scenes from the Lion King.
The different rock formations have created all sorts of places to traverse.
There aren't any full blown caves in the area but there are plenty of rock shelters and crevasses to walk through.
Don't forget to look out at the view while you're here, too!
Your family may get caught up with all the climbing, but do remember there's a spectacular overlook on this trail too! As always, do your research and judgement before hitting the road for this fun little trip.
