State-famous fried chicken certainly wouldn't be the first thing that came to mind when picturing abandoned ruins but that's exactly what you'll find near Monte Ne.
The Monte Ne Inn Chicken Restaurant is just down the road from the old Monte Ne ruins. Their address is:
13843 E Highway 94
Rogers, AR 72758.
The Monte Ne ruins were once a community and resort that only lasted from from 1901 to the mid-1930s.
Most folks know about the ruins but if you're unfamiliar you should definitely read our featured article right here.
Everyone is family at the Inn.
Besides being treated like family by staff, it's one of those places that everyone can carry on the same conversation between tables.
Their fried chicken really is the best.
For nearly 50 years the Inn has been serving the best fried chicken that's tender and savory. Besides being one of our favorites, the Inn has also won "Best Fried Chicken" by the Democrat Gazette.
Technically there is a menu but it's really not needed.
The family-style restaurant serves all-you-can-eat servings of fried chicken and all the fixin's. The mouthwatering sides include mashed potatoes and gravy, seasoned green beans, sweet corn, cole slaw, baked bread, and heaps of creamy apple butter.
Although you may need to ask your server about all the desserts.
Blackberry or peach cobblers, cheesecakes topped with blueberries or strawberries, or just a bowl of old-fashioned ice cream really makes the dessert decision a tough one.
Monte Ne Inn Chicken Restaurant is the perfect place to tuck in after a day of fishing and learning history at the Monte Ne ruins.
They're open Tuesdays-Saturdays 5 pm - 8 pm and Sundays 12 pm - 7 pm. It would be a good idea to make reservations by calling (479) 636-5511.
