Hike This Bluff Trail In Arkansas For A Heavenly View
Arkansans know better than to judge a place by its name. After all, one of our best scenic drives is the Jasper Disaster. Another misnomer that’s a must-visit is the Devil’s Knob-Devil’s Backbone Natural Area. Let’s take the trail that leads to the Devil’s Backbone and see the amazing view.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. The Natural Area is about 10 miles southwest of Melbourne. For specific coordinates, visit this site.

The 1.3-mile loop does have some elevation gain but can be enjoyed by hikers with any experience level. As always, be sure to closely watch young hikers when you've reached the bluffs.

The wildflowers are absolutely stunning during the spring but you don't need to wait till winter passes to make the trip. This Natural Area also features interesting rock formations including bluff shelters that can be explored year round.

The peaceful trail passes some of the state's oldest Ashe juniper trees before opening up to the beautiful panoramic view.

The Ashe juniper trees along this trail are pretty old, but they’re spring chicks compared to this ancient forest.
