Waterfalls are hiding in every little-known nook and cranny here in Arizona, and oftentimes, finding them takes some seriously hard work. If you're up for the challenge, Reavis Falls Trail leads to one of the tallest waterfalls our state has to offer - and the seclusion makes it even more magical.
The little-known Reavis Falls Trail will take you deeper into the Superstition Wilderness than you've ever gone before...if you're up for the challenge, that is.
At 12.9 miles long and with an elevation gain of more than 3000 feet, it's no walk in the park - but the views are worth every drop of sweat.
You're in for a fair amount of rock scrambling as you ascend the rugged Lime Mountain cliffside, but it's entirely doable with the right footwear.
The good news is that the trail remains pretty flat for the first 3.5 miles, so make sure you really take in the scenery before things kick into high gear.
Upon reaching the summit, you'll enjoy breathtaking panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountain peaks.
From these incredible heights, you can practically see all of Arizona.
Several creek crossings await you, but that's nothing compared to the waterfront vistas seen from the peak.
Deep blue as can be, it's like staring into a pool of melted sapphire.
All your hard work will pay off as soon as you lay eyes on the falls.
This amazing natural wonder towers at nearly 200 feet high. That's almost taller than Havasu and Mooney combined!
Year-round, the powerful cascade spills into a crystal-clear reservoir below and promises to leave you awestruck.
Sit down, let the sheer force of the fast-flowing water clear your head of any unnecessary thoughts, and regain your strength for the arduous trek back.
Although it's a beautiful hike in every season, we're definitely partial to visiting in the spring.
From March until May, the entire trail is lined with eye-popping wildflowers in every color of the rainbow.
