Despite being a landlocked state, Arizona actually has quite a few beaches worthy of a summer adventure. Lake Havasu City is home to several of them, and there's a trail that meanders right along the Bridgewater Channel. With distant mountains, white sands, and the iconic London Bridge, Mohave Sunset Trail will quickly become one of your new favorite warm-weather hikes.
Note: Temperatures in this area can become extreme, especially during certain months. As always, bring sunscreen, plenty of water, and even a sunhat to help keep protected as you hike.
An easy stroll beginning at the iconic London Bridge, Mohave Sunset Trail tells the story of how Lake Havasu City came to be.
It dates to 1971, when digging the Bridgewater Channel turned Pittsburg Point into the Island.
In just four miles, the trail leads hikers on a fascinating journey through Lake Havasu State Park, following Bridgewater Channel and the lake.
You'll pass the English Village, Windsor Beach, and an interpretive cactus garden - needless to say, there's never a dull moment!
Plenty of benches and tables along the way ensure you can take rest when needed.
Even if you aren't feeling tired, it's nice to sit down and take in the scenery for a while.
About 1.6 miles in, you'll come upon a scenic overlook nestled atop a small hill.
It showcases Lake Havasu and the distant mountains, making for a truly breathtaking view.
You'll also see lots of people out on the water, especially if it's a pretty day outside.
There are several spots to put in, so feel free to join in the fun!
Several of the 28 Lake Havasu lighthouses can be seen from the trail - how many can you spot?
They make great photo-ops, so don't forget to bring a camera!
All in all, this short-and-sweet beachfront hike will quickly become your new favorite summer adventure.
What the trail lacks in length, it makes up for with a plethora of things to see and do.
