Aimee's Farm Animal Sanctuary in San Tan Valley, Arizona is a unique home for animals in need. The farm not only rescues and rehabilitates animals, it offers people with and without disabilities the opportunity to experience the therapeutic comfort of animal connection.
The nonprofit organization rescues animals of all kinds from slaughter and mistreatment. Many of the animals are disabled, in poor health, or are dealing with the effects of traumatic treatment. The sanctuary provides a safe space for them to live and heal.
But it's not just animals who benefit from this safe space. Visitors can book sessions to snuggle with cows and visit and spend time with other animals. The therapeutic impact is invaluable to both parties, relieving stress and spreading calm.
Aimee often hosts groups of visitors with autism and other mental health challenges so they can benefit from the peaceful interaction with the animals.
Animals of all kinds live at Aimee's Farm Animal Sanctuary. You'll find goats, cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, you name it! And on very festive occasions they just might be in costume
Anyone is welcome to participate in cow cuddling, a trend that began in the Netherlands and has spread to Aimee's Sanctuary here in Arizona. Dogs are often what comes to mind in terms of therapy animals, but cows have a calm and pensive energy that does the job perfectly.
Visitors can book snuggle sessions and tours of the facility on the sanctuary website. There are also volunteer opportunities available if you want to spend regular time on site.
Care and tenderness are the central tenants of the sanctuary, for both animals and humans.
The benefit of close contact with animals can have a life-changing impact, as sanctuary founder Aimee discovered. Now visitors of all kinds can experience the serenity of a good old fashioned cuddle session.
