I think most Arizonans are still pretty sore that the Cardinals lost to the Panthers a couple of weeks ago. In fact, I heard a group of strangers arguing over it while walking past a bus stop earlier this week. However you feel about it, the Super Bowl is happening this weekend and for many people that means crowding around a TV to enjoy the game, the commercials and excellent company.
Oh, yeah, and food. No game is complete without a mixture of savory foods--and what better item to have while enjoying football than a plate of wings? No matter how you enjoy them—sweet, mild, spicy, or burn-your-tongue hot—here are some great places to get a delicious plate of wings this weekend:
1. Armadillo Grill, Phoenix
If you need a recommendation for what to order here, try the Armadillo Gold for a good amount of all around spicy flavors on your wings. Location: 1904 East Camelback Road, Phoenix.
2. Crossing Grill & Bar, Yuma
These are some of the tastiest, most flavorful hot wings you will find in the Yuma area. Location: 2690 South 4th Avenue, Yuma.
3. Lumberyard Brewing Company, Flagstaff
This restaurant does things a little different; all wings are served dry and you can dip your wings in any of their 17 sauces, which range from very mild to ridiculously hot. Also, if you happen to have that rare vegetarian in your group, they offer crispy tofu as a "wing" option. Location: 5 South San Francisco Street, Flagstaff.
4. NiMarco's Pizza, Flagstaff
There's nothing better than diving into a plate of large, juicy wings with a favorite cold beverage just like you can get here at NiMarco's. Location: 1800 South Milton Road, Flagstaff.
5. Pullano's Pizza, Glendale
The wings here are simply delicious. If you can't decide on a flavor, try the honey barbeque for a safe choice or the homicide if you really want to be sweating up a storm. Location: 13848 North 51st Avenue, Glendale.
6. Tastebuds Pizza, Prescott
We couldn't get any photos of the wings here but trust us, they're good. If someone in your party doesn't like wings for some reason, they can always enjoy a pizza here as well. Both are great options, but you're really missing out if you skimp on the wings. Location: 334 South Montezuma Street, Prescott.
7. Teakwoods Tavern & Grill, Chandler
You have lots of options to choose from here, but one of the more interesting sauces is their cactus flavor; a blend of prickly pear, medium wing sauce, and garlic. Yum! Location: 5965 West Ray Road, Chandler.
8. Vito's Italian Cuisine, Kingman
Another place where I wish we had more than a blurry photo to show off their tasty wings. Anyway, the wings here are great, but you may want to order them to-go. Be sure to try out the cajun seasoned wings. Location: 2775 Northern Avenue, Kingman.
9. Wings & Rice, Tucson
There are a lot of options here, including some classic Asian flavors like ginger soy and lemon pepper for those looking for a different take on wings. Don't forget to order some fried rice to go with your wing.
Location: 5502 East Pima Road, Suite 110, Tucson.
10. Wings Over Broadway, Tucson
You will want to try the honey hot wings with a side of delicious fries.Location: 5004 East Broadway Boulevard, Tucson.
