Get High In The Chugach And Watch The Colors Change On This Stunning Trail In Alaska
Williwaw Lakes Trail in Alaska offers stunning autumn scenery and a memorable hiking experience.
If you’re looking for a great spot to watch autumn arrive, Williwaw Lakes Trail in Alaska is the place to be. Located right outside Anchorage in the Chugach National Forest, this trail will take you through some beautiful scenery. And it gets even better every autumn!
Alaska has some pretty spectacular scenery all throughout the state.
And every autumn, Alaska comes ablaze with some of the prettiest colors you’ll ever see, all over the state. And they all start at the top of our mountains!
The Williwaw Lakes Trail takes you through some of fall’s breathtaking scenery.
This trail is always a stunner, but when autumn hits, it becomes a little extra special. The colors combine to give you a view that you won’t ever forget.
The trail is on the longer side, about 16 miles out and back.
You can turn around whenever you need, but we recommend you at least get far enough to be surrounded by these epic colors. Pack a lunch and make it a day trip if you can.
We’ve had a late summer so far, so you can still see many of the fall colors that tend to be gone by now.
If you can catch the trail on a sunny day, even better. Sometimes the mist can obscure some of the views.
When the alpine wildflowers come alive every fall season, it will take your breath away.
You do have to do some climbing on the trail to reach these views, however. You can expect to hike 2,585 feet along the entirety of the trail.
But every step is worth it.
The next time you have a day free, put this hike at the top of your list.
Grab a loved one and head out on the trail before more snow falls.
It’s beautiful all year long, but there’s something extra special when the mountains glow in the autumn colors. And with snow beginning to fall and termination dust arriving, it won’t look like this for much longer!
