If you're looking for a short stroll ending with some killer views, then the Wasilla Creek Wetlands Trail is perfect for you!
Located in Wasilla, Alaska, this easy trail cuts through gorgeous marshland. The forested area is beautiful and the wetlands beneath your feet are teeming with wildlife.
The trail ends at a little platform in the middle of the wetlands.
You'll be greeted by the stunning Pioneer Peak. You'll also be wowed by the sight of Palmer Hay Flats surrounding you in 360-degree views!
The boardwalk is a floating boardwalk, raised up above the wetlands.
There are no railings, so if you have small children moving quickly it would be best to keep a close eye on them. There's not too much height, so you don't have to worry about anything more than getting wet!
The trail has no elevation gain, so although a bit bumpy at parts, it is definitely wheelchair and stroller accessible.
The Wasilla Creek Wetlands Trail is approximately a mile roundtrip. This makes it a lovely 30 to 60-minute stroll, depending on your pace.
The trail meanders through pockets of birch and other trees, providing plenty of stunning photographic opportunities.
Even though this hike is located near a neighborhood, it's hard to hear anything but the birds and the wind rustling through the trees. The trail was built by The Great Land Trust, who did a beautiful job with construction and layout!
There's so much to see beyond wildlife.
Keep your eyes peeled for some fun Alaskan fungi and count how many types of trees you can spot. The marsh itself is stunning with its colors changing year-round.
