If you’re looking for a stunning waterfall that’s not hard to get to, try the Virgin Creek Waterfall in Alaska. This easy hike is only half a mile long, and the Virgin Creek Waterfall at the end is absolutely stunning. It’s a great trail if you don’t have a lot of time, but you still want to feel like you’re in a fairy tale!

Just a short 40 minute drive from Anchorage, this spectacular trail is located in the northernmost rainforest in North America. All the rain contributes to some seriously fantastic looking waterfalls.
The trail itself is well maintained.

Because of the constantly wet area, the ground is prone to become very muddy, so much of the trail has been outfitted with gravel and stairs. But not all, so make sure you wear a good pair of hiking boots.
The trail winds its way through the green forest, bringing you to the base of the Virgin Creek Waterfall.

Just .5 miles, out and back, this easy trail is perfect for families with kids. It will only take you about 20 minutes to complete.
There is only 180 feet of elevation gain, but it happens all at once, so it can feel a little steep.

If you’re traveling the trail in the winter or early spring, make sure to bring cleats or spikes so that you don’t slip on the ice. It will help you as you make your way along the hike.
