This Thai Food Restaurant In The Middle Of Nowhere In Alaska Is Worth A Trip From Every Corner Of The State
Alaska has some of the best Thai food in the country, hands down. Normally you’ll find these delicious restaurants in the larger cities like Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau. This little Thai restaurant out in the middle of nowhere started its life as a food truck. Due to popularity, it has grown! Alaskans come from all over the state to try the delicious food in this little out of the way spot!
Alaska has some fantastic food! With delicious Vietnamese and Thai food in all of the big cities, it's easy to find great eats.
But Tok Thai is located in Glenallen, Alaska, off the beaten path! Located in a parking lot of the gas station The Hub, this little gem is unassuming, but surprisingly delicious.
Originally this little restaurant was located inside an iconic purple food truck.
Covered in stickers, and with a large sign for passing motorists to see, the truck was highly visible to those looking for food. Lines of people in the summer frequently snake out into the parking lot!
The menu is extensive and filled with classics for Thai food lovers.
With everything from curries, to the classic Pad Thai, and of course plentiful different rice dishes, there's something for everyone! There are shrimp, chicken, pork, and vegetable options.
Perhaps one of the favorite and most often ordered is the Pad Thai.
Customers rave about the delicious flavors mingled together, and how fresh the vegetables are! Even in the middle of nowhere, this little restaurant puts out fantastic, fresh food.
From fresh spring rolls, to simpler options like chicken and white rice, customers rave about the large, filling, portion sizes.
The curries are definitely a fan favorite and have been compared to the larger cities outside of Alaska! Guests mention the perfectly balanced spices, and there is always generous portions of protein. If you order spicy, it will be very spicy!
A couple years ago the food truck was replaced with a solid, larger building.
While you still can't eat inside, the building is now able to process the large amount of orders that come through much easier! There's a great little porch to get out of the weather while you order, and a lot more room for those waiting.
There are also some lovely picnic tables to enjoy your food at. There's a brisk wind through the parking lot that helps with mosquitoes, too!
You can enjoy some of the best Thai food in the state at 189 Glenn Hwy., Glennallen, AK 99588. Its right in the parking lot of the Hub in Glenallen! They're open seven days a week, from 11:00 am through 9:00 pm. Perfect if you're driving through!
