The Cable Office in Seward is a building that served as a telegraph office that connected Seward with communications in the rest of the United States. It was essential and was constructed by the U.S. Army Signal Corps as part of the Washington–Alaska Military Cable and Telegraph System.

In the summer of 1905, a submarine cable was extended from Valdez to Seward, right to this house! The first message recorded at this historic house was to A. C. Frost, president of the Alaska Central Railway, who was in Chicago.

There are two bedrooms, and the house can sleep up to six people. There are also two full baths and all the amenities you would need during your stay.

There are tons of little touches throughout the house that make you feel like you’re traveling back in time, including period furniture.
