A Short But Beautiful Hike, Bird Creek Falls Leads To A Little-Known Waterfall In Alaska

If you’re looking to stretch your legs on an easy hike to a beautiful waterfall, you need to head to Bird Creek Falls in Alaska. Located in Indian, this short trail takes you to an impressive waterfall. Easily done in an hour and a half, this is one great hike on a beautiful day.

If you’re in the Anchorage area, there’s a lovely little hike that you have to take.

It’s located in Indian and just off the Seward Highway. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Anchorage, and it’s a beautiful drive to boot!

This hike takes you into Chugach State Park.

It offers stunning views along the way. And the hike itself is well marked and easy to follow.

The best part about the trail, besides the peekaboo views, is the fact that the majority of it is quite flat.

You can hike along the trail without much effort until the end. The entire elevation gain is only 374 feet.

You’ll go down two steep declines to reach the base of the falls.

If you need assistance, make sure to bring a hiking pole, or pick up a sturdy branch along your way to help keep your footing. On rainy days it can be a little slippery.

It’s an out-and-back hike that offers a wonderful couple of hours of exploration.

The entire hike is 3.6 miles, and well worth the short journey. The views and waterfall are just spectacular.

Chugach State Park does require a day pass.

You can get a daily pass that affixes to your windshield, or purchase an annual one online or at a store like REI. If you plan to be out hiking a lot, the annual pass may be your best bet.

This wonderful trail deserves to be on your summer bucket list.
