The Albert Loop Is A Stunning Trail To Admire Alaska’s Fresh Snowfall
If you want to get out and explore the gorgeous snow-filled woods with your family, the Albert Loop Trail in Eagle River is an easily accessible trail that highlights the best that winter in Alaska has to offer! With plenty of parking and a visitor center to answer any of your questions, this is a great, quick hike to get out and get the blood pumping in the cold weather.

This fun little trail begins at the Eagle River Nature Center parking lot, which has a $5.00 per day parking fee. The center is located at the very end of Eagle River Road.

Hiking through the woods after a good snowfall is magical! Be prepared for scenes straight out of a fairytale, with big drifts of snow on the trees and logs along the path.

You have incredible views on this hike once you break free of the forest. The mountains coated in snow is truly a sight worth hiking out for.

There is only 479 feet of elevation gain, so this is not a strenuous hike. That means this is a great spot to break out the cross country skis or snowshoes!

Make sure you have all the right equipment to have a great time on the trail. Good winter hiking boots or cross country skis or snowshoes are important. If there's ice under the fresh snowfall, make sure to grab your ice cleats!

On the Winter Solstice, volunteers line the path with ice lanterns. Wander around the gorgeous snow-filled woods by candlelight on Saturday, December 21st.

The Eagle River Nature Visitor Center's hours in the winter are Friday through Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. The trails in the park are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
