This beautiful park is located on the Lynn Canal. The park is made up of many types of terrain, including muskeg, forest, grassland, and the mountains that surround this state park.
The trail is well maintained and clearly marked.
It's an easy trail, with less than 300 feet elevation gain all the way out to the point and back. This is a popular trail for families and people of all skill levels. Even in the forested areas, you'll see peek-a-boo views of the nearby mountain tops.
The beginning of the trail has a nice boardwalk to keep you up and above the wet areas.
Wear boots, however, as some parts of the trail without boardwalks can become muddy during rainy times. Keep a good lookout, as moose frequent the area!
If you head all the way out to the point, the whole trail will be 5.3 miles.
You will have a great panoramic view of the entire bay, including the mountains that surround the bay. Depending on the season, they'll be green, dusted with snow, or completely draped in white.
The trails at Point Bridget State Park are used year-round, and this trail is no exception.
It's very popular in the winter to cross country ski, and there are great opportunities for bird watching in the spring. In the summer, you might even spot a humpback whale swimming offshore.
The trail is even known for its beautiful wildflowers in the spring and summer.
Keep your eyes peeled for some of Alaska's most famous flowers, like fireweed. These beautiful pink-purple flowers tower up and over the meadow in lovely points and provide a nice contrast against the dark mountains behind them.
The trailhead is located off of Glacier Highway.
There is plenty of parking available at the trailhead. If you want to make it an extended trip, make sure to rent one of three beautiful cabins inside the state park! Make sure to revel in the mountainous views around you, and relax in one of the prettiest spots in this part of the state.
