One of the toughest decisions a parent will eventually make is deciding which school to enroll their child. Quality of education is very important. Graduating from an excellent high school can ultimately lead to a variety of college opportunities.

1. Homewood - Homewood City Schools
Homewood is located outside of Birmingham, Alabama and is well known for its excellent school system.
With a K-12 enrollment of approximately 3,900 students at three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, Homewood believes education and student learning are the two most important responsibilities of our schools and community.
2. Mountain Brook - Mountain Brook Schools
Mountain Brook is a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. Its school system was founded in 1959 and includes six schools with an enrollment of approximately 4,500 students in grades K-12. The primary purpose of Mountain Brook Schools is to provide an effective and challenging education for each of its students.
3. Hoover - Hoover City Schools
The Hoover City School District, located within the Birmingham, Alabama metropolitan area, was founded in 1988 and provides each student with opportunities to achieve personal excellence through a challenging curriculum. There are currently 17 schools in the Hoover City School District.
4. Auburn - Auburn City Schools
The Auburn City School District, which was founded in 1961, is focused on making sure each student embraces and achieves his or her unique intellectual gifts and personal aspirations. The school district includes 11 schools and serves approximately 6,500 students in grades K-12.
5. Vestavia Hills - Vestavia Hills City Schools
The Vestavia Hills City School District, located in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, includes eight schools and serves approximately 6,000 students in grades PK-12. The mission of Vestavia Hills City Schools is to make sure each student learns without limits.
6. Madison - Madison City Schools
Located in Madison, Alabama and established in 1998, the Madison City School District provides its students with a nurturing, safe and effective learning environment. It includes two high schools, two middle schools and seven elementary schools. The Madison City School District serves approximately 10,000 students and national standardized test scores are usually above the national average at all schools.
7. Trussville - Trussville City Schools
The Trussville City School District, located in Trussville, Alabama, was established in 2005. It includes four schools and serves approximately 4,200 students in grades K-12.
8. Hartselle - Hartselle City Schools
Established in 1975, the Hartselle City School District serves more than 3,000 students at five schools, which include three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.
9. Cullman - Cullman City Schools
The Cullman City School District, located in Cullman, Alabama, serves more than 3,000 students in five schools, which includes one primary school, two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The Cullman City School District's ACT scores are consistently high.
10. Muscle Shoals - Muscle Shoals City Schools
Located in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, the Muscle Shoals City School District serves approximately 3,000 students in grades PK-12. It consistently places among the top 10 school districts in one or more areas in most grade levels.
