Rhode Island’s well-known for its culinary scene, and you can pretty much find whatever type of cuisine for which you’re craving somewhere in the state. Even if you’re not vegetarian or vegan, you’ll likely find yourself returning to Plant City. The celebrity-owned food hall in Providence, Rhode Island dishes up vegan food that will tantalize the taste buds of even the most diehard meat eater.
Plant City, the creation of celebrity chef Matthew Kenney, just might be the most unique dining destination in Rhode Island.
An author of numerous cookbooks and the founder of vegan restaurants in the U.S. and beyond, Kenney has brought his vision to Providence, creating what is billed as “the world’s first plant-based vegan food hall and marketplace.”
Plant City is a compilation of four restaurants, a coffee bar, a bakery, and a grab-and-go. Whichever you visit, you’re sure to find something that delights your taste buds.
The food hall features four restaurants. A self-described American bistro and bar, New Burger is perfect for grabbing a vegan burger, a sandwich, a salad, or a hearty helping of (vegan) mac and cheese while you watch the latest sporting event.
Build your own bowl at Make Out, where you’ll find a delicious array of sandwiches, smoothies, and wraps, or cure that craving for authentic Mexican dishes at Besina. Double Zero is all about pizza.
Experience a bit of yesteryear when you visit 345. The classic speakeasy pours a tasty selection of mocktails, which pair perfectly with small plates and snacks.
If you don’t have time to sit down for a meal, order a ready-made one at Grab & Go; stop by the Coffee Bar for a delicious drink, or grab a sweet treat from the Bakery.
While you’re at Plant City, visit the Marketplace, where you can stock up on all of the vegan food, ingredients, and other products you need to make meals. The marketplace also sells a selection of non-edible products that includes cookbooks.
