Everyone loves a good unsolved mystery and there is one that has plagued the Great Lake State area for nearly thirty years. In 1994, a UFO was sighted in West Michigan; an event that baffles Michiganders, scientists, and meteorologists to this day. Michigan is one of the top 10 states in the country with the most UFO reports (!!) and this day in history may inspire you to get outside and spot one yourself.

The UFO sightings took place across 42 counties in Michigan, primarily Muskegon, Allegan, Berrien, and Ottawa counties.

On March 8 around 9 p.m., the Ottawa County dispatcher called the National Weather Service radar at the Muskegon County Airport. Reports were coming in about odd-looking lights resembling flickering Christmas lights in the sky.

The National Weather Service radar picked up five or six cylindrical-shaped objects flying in the sky. The UFOs were flying abnormally and did not resemble any earthly explanation such as a blimp, weather balloon, military aircraft, or plane.

The lights flew along the Lake Michigan coastline and would hover or change direction rapidly. Sometimes the lights would disappear and reappear, too quickly for any man-made object to accomplish.
More than 300 Michiganders reported the red, green, white, and blue lights flying overhead. The supernatural event still remains unexplained and will go down in history as one of Michigan’s strangest nights of all time.
