Restoration Park is a beautiful, 70-acre recreational park in West Monroe that’s home to a quick and easy nature trail that you’re going to love. Once the center for a sand and gravel mining operation, the park has quite an interesting history. The area was mined for about 50 years before becoming abandoned in the 1970s when it then fell victim to illegal dumping. In 1989, the city of West Monroe purchased the land and began the long process of turning rags to riches, developing the area to become a detention basin for floodwaters.
