Midway is a small Utah town that’s home to around 5,400 people, many of whom are of Swiss heritage. Every year, the town hosts its Swiss Days celebration, and it’s one of the Beehive State’s largest mountain festivals. The town of Midway is known as the Little Switzerland of Utah, and that is never more clear than during Midway Swiss Days. This annual festival is scheduled for August 30 and 31 this year, and if it’s anything like past years, the 2024 event is going to be like a trip to Europe without ever leaving Utah. We can’t think of a better way to spend an August day.

  • Legacy Bridge, the longest covered bridge in Iowa, is a whopping 110 feet long. But this isn't one of those century-old covered bridges. It was actually built in 2002 as part of the preparation for the Winter Olympics that year. In the 20 years since it's become a beloved part of the region, and this walking path over the Provo River is an amazing spot in the summertime. The latticework in the wood that lines the bridge is well worth a look.
  • The Homestead Crater is a natural geothermal spring that's probably the most iconic landmark in the town of Midway. The waters can be found underground, in a small cave accessed by reservation. Guests can snorkel or scuba-dive in the naturally warm water, but most choose to simply float around in the steaming mineral waters. The water has an otherworldly blue color, and you'll definitely feel refreshed and renewed after a float here.

  • Angelica's Mexican Grill, found in the small town of St. George, is one of the highest-rated Mexican restaurants in Utah. This isn't a traditional Tex-Mex joint with tons of shredded cheese everywhere. The recipes here are inspired by traditional Mexican street food. The massive tortas are probably the most impressive sandwich we've seen in a long time, but we also recommend the fajitas if you want to enjoy this restaurant at its simplest and tastiest.
  • Old Bridge Cafe in Salt Lake City represents a cuisine you might have never tried - Bosnian! This small family-owned restaurant has a humble but comfortable environment and specializes in hearty cuisine from the Balkans. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served, and you can expect to dig into regional classics like cevapi (Bosnian beef sausage), goulash, shish kababs, and the best baklava in Utah.
