If you're in need of a little one-on-one time with nature, you can even camp out along the James River. The outdoor adventure company rents tents, a few glamping sites, and welcomes RVs.

Your biggest decision of the day, however, really boils down to how long you want to spend on the water. James River Outfitters offers several floating trips.
