Paddling along Tomales Bay during the evening is a tranquil experience that's hard to put into words. After all, it's one thing to explore this gorgeous region during daytime, and another thing entirely to witness it at nightfall.
You'll begin the moonlight kayak tour by paddling along the shoreline of the Point Reyes National Seashore. Once the sun goes down, you'll paddle under the light of the moon and the stars. If there's no moonlight, you'll instead rely on bioluminescence.
Bioluminescence is light given off by a living organism. On super dark nights, this light is seen as bluish white flickers and they come from tiny critters called dinoflagellates or even schools of fish. Seeing them in the pure darkness of night is an incredible experience!
