While flying is most certainly the easiest and most direct way to get from here to there, nothing quite beats the experience of the classic American road trip. If you’ve got time and a dependable vehicle, there’s really nothing stopping you from experiencing the landscape up close and personal. There are seemingly endless routes you can take to enjoy U.S. scenery, but perhaps none of them are as iconic as Route 66. Start in Chicago and take this famed route all the way to California.
