One of the best performing arts venues in town is the Santa Fe Opera. Besides the outstanding performances, people really come here to enjoy the unbelievable setting. Are there any historic churches in Santa Fe?

Yes, and one of the oldest and largest of them is the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. Also known as simply St. Francis Cathedral, this structure was completed in 1887. But, its history goes back even further to the church’s initial founding in 1625. That structure was destroyed during the civil unrest that occurred here several decades later. The architecture here is stunning and you can visit and tour the building when services are not being held.
